The public is advised to return to wearing masks inside and outside the room

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Government Spokesperson for COVID-19 Reisa Broto Asmoro appealed to the public to return to wearing masks indoors and outdoors in line with the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

“Remember that COVID-19 is still there, therefore, both indoors and outdoors, it is recommended to wear a mask,” Reisa said in a healthy talk broadcast on Anticipating the Peak of COVID-19 Cases which was followed online in Jakarta, Monday.

According to her, wearing a mask is a must, especially in cities with high community interaction.

“It should be understood together that changes in regulations, changes in appeals are of course a natural thing because they are adapted to the conditions and situations that exist in our environment,” she said.

With the condition of the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, Reisa invites the public to increase their vigilance and discipline in carrying out health protocols.

Reisa said that the community’s compliance with health protocols as of July 3, 2022 has decreased.

It was recorded that 35.5 percent of the 1,474 sub-districts had low adherence to health protocols in wearing masks. Then, 22 percent had low adherence to social distancing.

“Compliance is very low if we compare it with last year. Last year around 70 percent to 98 percent had good compliance with health protocols. So of course we have to obey this again,” said Reisa who is also the Ambassador for the Adaptation of New Habits.

She emphasized that apart from vaccination, compliance with health protocols is the key to preventing a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“If we look at what saved Indonesia in this pandemic so that conditions are controlled, there is a good collaboration between health protocols and vaccinations. Now, we tighten it again so that we are protected and don’t forget to immediately do a booster vaccination,” she said.

The COVID-19 Handling Task Force reported an increase in daily cases of COVID-19 by 1,681 people as of Monday, 12.00 WIB.

With the addition of daily cases, the total number of confirmed positive cases since March 2020 is 6,112,986 people. (ojn/bbs)
