Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Thousands of students from various universities began visiting the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) building, Central Jakarta, to hold a demonstration on Monday.
According to Antara monitoring at the location, they were seen arriving at 13.35 WIB wearing various alma mater jackets.
They took a “long march” from the direction of the Ladogi Bridge, Senayan to the DPR RI building via Jalan Gatot Subroto.
They walked while waving the flag of their respective colleges. As they walked, they sang cheers for the masses.
“Student life, life,” said the mass orator.
Traffic conditions on Jalan Gatot Subroto towards Pal Merah, West Jakarta, were temporarily closed for three lanes due to the “long march”.
Previously, the All-Indonesian Student Executive Board (BEM SI) planned to hold a demonstration in front of the Indonesian Parliament building.
In the action, the group consisting of BEM collections from several universities brought several demands, including the rejection of postponing elections and extending the presidential term. (mhn/bbs)
