Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Friday, August 16, 2024, the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) held a Special Plenary Meeting with the agenda of listening to the State Address by the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the context of the 79th Anniversary of Indonesian Independence in the Plenary Meeting Room of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

This Special Plenary Session was attended by the Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD Hj RA Anita Noeringhati accompanied by the ranks of the Deputy Chairpersons of the South Sumatra DPRD HM Giri Ramanda N Kiemas, Kartika Sandra Desi and Muchendi Mahzareki. The plenary session was also attended by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi with a number of Forkompinda and invitees and members of the South Sumatra DPRD.
The annual session of the MPR, DPR, and DPD RI was opened by the Chairperson of the MPR RI Bambang Soesatyo. President Joko Widodo when starting his State Address for the 79th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia said that the commemoration of the 79th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia was a momentum to express appreciation to the heroes of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Thanks to the struggle of the heroes, Indonesia became an independent, sovereign country and free from the shackles of colonialism,” he said.
The struggle and sincere sacrifice of the fighters were only for the interests of the nation and country they loved, namely the homeland of Indonesia.
“A great nation is a nation that appreciates the services of its heroes. Hopefully the nation’s fighters will get a proper place by the side of God Almighty,” he said.
President Jokowi also said that this was his last state address during his term of office. In his speech, the number one person in Indonesia conveyed the national strategic programs that had been successfully achieved.
President Jokowi said that he had served as President of the Republic of Indonesia for exactly 10 years.
“This year, I have served as President of the Republic of Indonesia for exactly 10 years and Mr. Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin has served as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia for exactly 5 years,” said Jokowi.
Jokowi realized that there were many waves that he faced even since his first day as President of the Republic of Indonesia. However, Jokowi admitted that he was sure and strongly believed that he was not alone because there were prayers and support from the people.
“Since the first day I received this mandate, I have been very aware that there will be many waves that must be faced, there will be many challenges that must be resolved. I am also sure and strongly believe that I am not alone. There are ideals and hopes of the people, there is support and prayers from the people who always accompany and strengthen. “The smiles, greetings, and prayers of my fathers, mothers, and fellow countrymen are the source of my strength,” he said.
At this moment, Jokowi said that he and Ma’ruf Amin expressed their sincere gratitude to all Indonesian people. He said that for the past 10 years, the people have been with him, taking steps and facing changes.
“And today, August 16, 2024, in the last moment that I and Prof. Dr. (H.C.) K.H. Ma’ruf Amin stand here, allow us to express our sincere gratitude. My deepest gratitude to all of you. To all Indonesian people everywhere, who for the past 10 years have been together in overcoming challenges after challenges, taking steps after steps, and facing changes after changes,” said Jokowi.
At the end of his speech, Jokowi expressed his apologies and gratitude to all Indonesian people for their cooperation and support.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD, Hj RA Anita Noeringhati, after hearing the Independence Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, said that what had been conveyed earlier illustrated that we should not lose heart in terms of building and realizing Advanced Indonesia. Filling independence in the Republic of Indonesia with many things that can provide many benefits for the people.
“I really appreciate and am proud of what has become the achievements of our country, the Republic of Indonesia. The most important thing is that we all hope that this country and society can be better,” said Anita. (ojn/ril)
