Acting Governor Elen Setiadi Invites Alumni of UI to Contribute Ideas and Innovations for Development in South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia post – Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi opened the Road to UI Half Marathon 2024 and Waste Art Open organized by the University of Indonesia Alumni Association (ILUNI UI) of the South Sumatra Region at the Jakabaring Cultural Park and Cipta Gallery Building in Palembang, Sunday, (4/8/2024).

Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi appreciated the implementation of this activity. According to him, running is indeed a trend nowadays. He admitted that he was happy that the Road to UI Half Marathon was also held in Palembang, with 300 participants. “This is very good as a warm-up for the peak event later. I am sure this activity can increase the friendship between UI alumni in various faculties,” he said.

Furthermore, Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi invited UI alumni to provide ideas and innovations that could have an impact on the development of South Sumatra. UI’s friends consist of many academics and practitioners, especially those closely related to economic and community empowerment, as well as the development of MSMEs.

“I am sure UI is an expert in that. I am waiting for you to bring ideas for the development of South Sumatra. Especially important ideas related to economic empowerment, “he said.

Elen continued, To BUMN BUMD we also need support for Government programs through CSR or the BUMN PKBL program (State-Owned Enterprise Partnership and Environmental Development Program).

“Yesterday we met IMA South Sumatra whose members consist of national figures. They are also enthusiastic about helping us in various infrastructure programs, the development of Tanjung Carat Port, Sriwijaya Mosque, UMKM, and improving agriculture and fishermen. Friends can join according to their respective capacities, “he said.

Elen hopes that the implementation of this activity can improve friendship as well as a means of establishing good cooperation from UI alumni in providing ideas, innovations and various programs that are beneficial to the community to be worked on together with the Regional Government.

Meanwhile, Secretary General of ILUNI Faculty of Economics UI, Freddy Hendra Jaya, said that this activity is a series of road to UI Half Marathon 2024 which will peak on the UI Depok campus on September 8, 2024.

“The number of participants has sold out a total of 6 thousand participants in less than a month, which means that the public’s enthusiasm for running is very enthusiastic. Thank you for the friendly attention from the people of South Sumatra. I hope that this is a good step so that the event will run smoothly,” he said.
