Acting Governor Fatoni Leads the Call to Release Additional Troops for the Forestry Task Force

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Acting (Acting) Governor of South Sumatra Agus Fatoni led the roll call for the Plantation Forest and Land Fire Task Force (Satgas Karhutbunla) to help control the operations of the Lampung Battalion Battalion at the Ogan Komering Ilir Regency Regent’s Office Yard, Wednesday (11/10/2023).

The roll call began with an inspection of the readiness of troops and tools to control forest and land fires by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra together with the South Sumatra Forkopimda and the OKI Regency Forkopimda. On that occasion, the Acting Governor of South Sumatra also provided assistance for forest and land fire disaster response in the form of pump machines and equipment symbolically to Dandim 0402 OKI-OI.

“Today we are holding a roll call for additional troops to handle forest and land fires to optimize and speed up the process of extinguishing fires in forest and land fires in OKI Regency,” he explained.

Fatoni added that we continue to communicate and invite all parties to work together in handling forest and land fires. Forkopimda has even met and coordinated with entrepreneurs and Regents/Mayors as well as Forkopimda in districts/cities to handle forest and land fires.

Apart from that, coordination is also carried out with the parent company at the Center. This has been responded to quite well, they will be assisted according to the conditions of their respective companies.

“I also invite all parties to pray Istisqo’ (prayer asking for rain) together in all districts/cities and in Islamic boarding schools on Friday morning (13/10),” he said.

Pangdam II/Sriwijaya, Major General TNI Yanuar Adil, said that this additional troop was carried out because all troops in South Sumatra had been assigned to work in various regions. In fact, the troops who came from Lampung had only just returned 2 weeks from operations in Papua.

“The handling of forest and land fires will be carried out using a new technique, namely using liquid foam and gel to be applied at hotspot points. There will also be assistance from 3 planes from the TNI Commander’s Air Base to support the TMC’s activities and this could possibly be done tomorrow,” he said.

“This additional team will be temporarily assigned for the next 30 days with a total of 350 personnel.” he said. (mhn/ril)
