Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Cik Ujang received an audience with automotive players in order to foster friendship and discuss aspirations and discussions regarding potential support from the regional government for the sustainability and development of the automotive sector, held at the Salatin Hotel, Wednesday (25/06/2025).
Governor Herman Deru said that he welcomed the visit of the automotive players.
Automotive business players in the South Sumatra Province (Sumsel) expressed their hopes for relaxation of the policy of Law Number 1/2022 concerning the motor vehicle tax option.
One of the South Sumatra automotive business players, Biyouzmal, who also serves as the Regional Business Head of Auto2000 Sumatera, said that the request was submitted to the local government in line with the automotive market conditions which are in a less than good trend.
South Sumatra Governor Herman Deru said that there are three aspects that are important points related to the tax option.
First, from the regional revenue side, it must be achieved because the largest portion that contributes to development in South Sumatra comes from vehicle tax.
Second, the decision regarding options must also consider the consumer side. “So consumers should not be burdened, especially vehicle users for a living such as online motorcycle taxis, for example,” he said.
Furthermore, the third factor is from the side of automotive business actors who should not experience a decrease in turnover with the policy.
“Because they (automotive business actors) also have many employees. That’s why I have instructed all parties to sit together and reach a decision but pay attention to three things: income is achieved, consumers are not burdened and the turnover of business actors does not decrease,” he concluded.
HD said that the realization and target of the APBD must be achieved from the automotive sector. In addition, so that consumers are not burdened by tax increases, especially commercial vehicles. Furthermore, vehicle dealers should not experience a decrease in turnover, so the efforts made are to sit together and be transparent. (rys/ril)
