Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Chairperson of the Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra Province attended the 2023 National Coordination Meeting of Regional Heads and Regional Leader Coordinating Forum (Forkopimda) which was opened directly by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir Joko Widodo with the theme: “Strengthening Economic Growth and Controlling Inflation” at the International Sentul Convention Center. Tuesday (17/1/2023).
On that occasion, President Jokowi expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all parties, both central and regional, so that the COVID-19 pandemic in the country can be controlled and economic growth can be maintained.
“Alhamdulillah, we managed to manage and control the pandemic well, and we can manage economic stability, we maintain it so that it is in a very good position. This is thanks to the hard work of all of us,” said President Jokowi
In his directive, President Joko Widodo said that all regional heads and Forkopimda members must strengthen economic growth and control inflation.
In the midst of a pandemic and economic slowdown in a number of countries, the President added, Indonesia was also able to record good economic growth. In the third quarter of 2022, the Indonesian economy was able to grow 5.72 percent and in the fourth quarter of 2022 it is estimated to grow 5.2 to 5.3 percent.
“This is a very good achievement, because in the third quarter we were able to grow 5.72. Compare with other countries,” he said.
Although able to go through the year of economic turbulence in 2022 well, said the President, Indonesia must remain careful and vigilant because 2023 will still be a test year for the global economy.
“Everyone has to be careful, they have to work hard, all of them detect information and data in the field so that we don’t make the wrong policy. No matter how small, the policy must be based on data and facts on the ground,” he emphasized.
Present at the event were the Ministers of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, Governors, Regents and Mayors throughout Indonesia, as well as members of the TNI/Polri. (ojn/ril)
