Commission I South Sumatra Legislative Council Asks Provincial Government to Overcome Traffic Jams

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The chairman of Commission I of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), Antoni Yuzar, conveyed several conclusions and recommendations to the South Sumatra Provincial Government. One of them is the provincial government’s efforts to unravel the congestion that continues to occur at several points in South Sumatra.

This was explained during the 48th plenary meeting with the agenda of submitting the recommendations of the South Sumatra DPRD to the South Sumatran Governor on the South Sumatra Governor’s LKPJ for the 2021 Fiscal Year, Thursday (12/5) morning.

“The high number of vehicles causes heavy traffic which causes congestion and accidents, this problem is always our homework together. Therefore, we recommend that the provincial government increase the number of exit doors in the construction of the Sumatra toll road, thus this effort can improve the economy in the surrounding area, “said Antoni Yuzar.

In addition, Antoni also encouraged the Department of Public Works, Bina Marga and Spatial Planning of South Sumatra to prioritize the national budget (APBN) budget in infrastructure development that functions to break down congestion in South Sumatra.

“The construction of a double track train and the duplication of the Ampera Bridge can function to break down congestion. Therefore, this could be the main priority of the Department of Public Works, Highways and Spatial Planning in terms of APBN budgeting. In addition, we also ask the Department of Public Works, Highways and Spatial Planning to establish better cooperation with BBPJN so that the implementation of road construction is in accordance with community expectations,” he said.
