PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Information transformation is really needed in today’s digital era. This is what underlies the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru to encourage his staff to continue to innovate in order to make it easier for the public to access the information and data needed.
Most recently, HD again officially launched the South Sumatra One Data Information System (SIMATA). SIMATA is a comprehensive application that summarizes various information and data such as the efforts that the South Sumatra Provincial Government has made for the progress of the region and society, population and employment, agriculture, plantations, population, to detailed information regarding the condition of South Sumatra from the sub-district to regency and city levels.
“Currently, technology has become a necessity. It is time for technology transformation to be needed, for that we create SIMATA. This page provides information and data that the public needs in a transparent manner,” HD said when launching SIMATA at Griya Agung Palembang, (23/11) .
With the launch of SIMATA, he continued, the public would find it easier to get information and data.
“Information and data must be transparent. Therefore, I ask that they collaborate in their management so that the information and data submitted is more accurate and accountable,” he said.
Apart from launching SIMATA, previously on the same occasion, HD also confirmed the Regional Information and Communication Technology (TIK) Council of the Province of South Sumatra for the period 2020-2023.
It is hoped that the formation of the ICT Council will become a guide in the transformation of information and data for public services.
“There are challenges for us behind the rapid development of technology. Currently there are still many people who do not fully understand this technology. And the role of the ICT Council is very much needed in educating this matter,” he explained.
According to him, community involvement in encouraging the transformation of information and data is very important. For that, cooperation is needed between local governments such as the Ministry of Communication and Information, the Regional ICT Council, to public and private universities.
“Understanding this technology is a shared task. The responsibility of the Regional ICT Council is not simple. People who have not mastered this technology must be given education,” he explained.
It is not only a matter of understanding technology, but supporting factors such as signals are also continuously improved, so that technological advances can be felt in remote areas of South Sumatra. Related to this, HD itself has instructed to increase the signal booster.
“We also continue to improve the facilities to support the technology to be utilized by the whole community,” he said.
Head of the Ministry of Communication and Information, H Achmad Rizwan said, SIMATA is an implementation of the governor’s directive. The results of the understanding between the Ministry of Communication and Information and the Central Statistics Agency (BPS).
“This is also the implementation of the governor’s directive who wants information transformation. SIMATA regulates data management so that the data provided is accurate and accountable. This is a form of data transparency for the public. The data in SIMATA comes from OPD in South Sumatra, “he explained. (imf/ril)
