Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – SOE Minister Erick Thohir wants Indonesia to become a country with an advanced creative economy sector.
“I have a dream that Indonesia will become a country with an advanced creative economy, with a pop culture that can be a mainstay for the economy,” said Erick Thohir in a written statement received in Jakarta, Tuesday.
According to the Minister of SOEs (BUMN), the added value of the creation of a miniature Garuda Indonesia aircraft by Khomaidi from Madura, which went viral recently, could be an example that enriches Indonesian pop culture.
“The added value of Khomaidi’s creation can enrich elements of Indonesian pop culture, with Garuda Indonesia as a symbol of our nation’s representative air transportation,” said Erick.
The Ministry of BUMN and BUMN companies continue to encourage the growth and development of the creative industry in Indonesia. One of the tangible forms that is realized is by supporting creators in Indonesia, such as the maker of miniature airplanes that recently went viral on social media, Khomaidi.
“SOEs as agents of development or agents of development as well as public services provide a space for collaboration to jointly build an ecosystem. Thus, creators like Khomaidi can grow even more,” said Erick Thohir.
Previously, SOE Minister Erick Thohir encouraged an ecosystem that could support creative ideas or young Indonesians to be able to work.
Erick added that because it is an important momentum, if you look at the majority of Indonesia’s population in 2024-2034, it will be dominated by those under 40 years old.
This means that the market is quite large, of course they are the ones who create the trendsetters. But what has become a big note so far is that Indonesia’s young generation is only consumptive, not productive.
According to Erick, SOEs are focusing on building ecosystems where if you look at all countries building their own ecosystems, and the ecosystem must be able to win the competition with the ecosystems of other countries. (ojn/bbs)
