Forest and Land Fire Preparedness Ceremony, HD Affirms Five Things

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru led a meeting of personnel and equipment for the prevention of Forest and Land Fires (Karhutlah) of South Sumatra Province in 2022 in the context of strengthening regional capacity to prevent forest and land fires.

In an effort to control forest and land fires in South Sumatra, HD emphasized 5 main points, namely synchronizing the provincial and district/municipal task forces, especially for areas prone to forest and land fires, dividing up the task of controlling forest and land fires by involving all stakeholders in the province, district/city, and providing strict sanctions for those responsible for forest and land fires. to clear land and be active post-harvest

Then, strengthen the infrastructure of personnel for controlling forest and land fires, and Activating the Command Post for controlling forest and land fires in companies, vertical agencies and the community, especially in areas prone to forest and land fires.

“We are grateful for God’s help, who has made the dry season quite wet, with days without rain that are short enough so that the land is not dry enough,” he said.

In addition, HD appreciates that the success of reducing hotspots in 2021 is the best achievement of the karhutlah control team led by the 044 Garuda Dempo Military Command with the support of vertical agencies, OPD, Polri, and the community.

“The emergence of hotspots on peatlands has been detected before the dry season, this is due to natural degradation. We must find permanent solutions so that peatlands are not too dry so that they are not easily burned in accordance with their humid habitat,” said HD.

To anticipate this, HD said that the South Sumatra forest and land fire control team had built canal blocks, drilled wells, and reservoirs on peatlands that have the potential to cause forest and land fires.

“We pray and try so that the number of forest and land fires can continue to be low or even not happen at all, so it takes a commitment to hard work and anticipation of forest and land fires in the future,” he concluded.

This activity was attended by a total of approximately 900 participants. (mhn/ojn/ril)
