Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Indonesia’s Minister of Law and Human Rights, Supratman Andi Agtas, together with South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru, conducted a direct inspection of a Legal Aid Post (Posbankum) in 5 Ilir Sub-district, Palembang, on Monday (July 28, 2025). The visit reaffirmed the government’s commitment to expanding access to justice for grassroots communities.
In addition to the Posbankum, Supratman also visited service tenants providing business registration and trademark services, which were present to directly serve local residents.
In his remarks, Supratman emphasized the importance of Posbankum as the frontline in fostering a culture of peace within society. He underlined that conflict resolution should not always end up in court but could instead be prevented early through accessible legal approaches.
“Hopefully, the presence of Posbankum will encourage peace efforts in resolving conflicts that should ideally be addressed from the outset,” he said.
He further noted that easy access to legal aid is a crucial pillar in building an inclusive and just society. In this regard, Posbankum serves as a bridge between the people and the legal system, particularly for underprivileged citizens who often lack access to proper legal services.
Accompanying the visit, Governor Herman Deru expressed his appreciation for the program. He hoped that Posbankum would not only function as a legal consultation center but also as a hub for legal education for the community.
The inspection formed part of a national program by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to bring legal services closer to the people, especially in regions that have long been underserved.
