Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru (HD) attended the Launching of the Cinta Statistik (Beautiful) Village Program which was synergized with the South Sumatran Food Independent Movement (GSMP) at the district/city level throughout South Sumatra.
HD revealed that the program that was launched was the result of his discussion with the Head of BPS Prov. Sumsel, DR. Ir. Zulkipli, M.Si some time before.
“We heard earlier that the explanation from the Deputy was very clear about the importance of data for carrying out development. Because through the right data base, the right policy will be issued”, said HD when giving his speech.
HD invites us to make good use of the available data as a starting point in our development from planning to implementation of development.
HD also revealed that the launching of Beautiful Villages in South Sumatra was the first time it had been carried out in Indonesia, which was launched thoroughly at the district/city level.
“I hope that the village will run the Beautiful Village program and use it for village development needs. Hopefully this will bring benefits to the community and educate the community with the openness of the data itself,” concluded HD.
Meanwhile, the Deputy for Distribution and Service Statistics of the BPS RI, Setianto, SE, M.Si said that the urgency of Indonesia’s development in a fair and equitable manner had been conveyed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia on the last commemoration of the Youth Pledge Day.
He also appreciated the initiation that had been carried out by the Governor of South Sumatra in supporting the Beautiful Village Program which was synergized with GSMP
“If the GSMP is implemented by all the people of South Sumatra, then of course this will have an impact on the poverty rate and provide prosperity to the households that run it,” he said. (mhn/ril)
