COVID-19 Task Force: 57,449,470 residents receive booster vaccinations

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – The Task Force for Handling COVID-19 stated that 57,449,470 Indonesians had received a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, after 24,929 people were added on Wednesday.

According to data from the Task Force compiled in Jakarta, recipients of the second dose increased by 6,768 people, bringing the total to 170,143,379 people.

While the achievement at dose one, now there are 202,563,389 people who have received it. An increase of 16,721 people from the previous day.

The Task Force stated that as many as 208,265,720 people have been designated as government targets in expanding the scope of COVID-19 vaccination, in order to maintain antibodies and reduce virus transmission.

Responding to the development of giving booster vaccinations to the community, Ministry of Health spokesman Mohammad Syahril said on Monday (1/8) that the provision of the fourth or second booster dose of COVID-19 vaccine for the public was waiting for the coverage of the first booster vaccination to reach up to 50 percent of the target target.

“The second booster vaccine is only intended for health workers whose antibodies are starting to decline. The second booster vaccine will be given to 1.9 million health workers,” he said.

Meanwhile, information for the elderly and comorbid patients, regarding the administration of the next dose of vaccination will follow.

He hopes that the public can also wait for information regarding the provision of COVID-19 vaccination to children under the age of six, who are currently still waiting for the review and recommendation of the National Immunization Expert Advisory Committee (Indonesian Technical Advisory Group on Immunization/ITAGI).
