Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Ensures no forest and land fires (karhutla) was emphasized by the Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru during a Friday safari at the Al-Hijrah Mosque, Sukabangun, Palembang and reminded the public not to burn forests when opening new land which could cause air pollution.
“I remind the public to be aware of this karhutla. Especially in areas where forest and land fires often occur,” said Herman Deru.
In recent times, South Sumatra has experienced hot and foggy weather, so many believe that this is due to forest and land fires in several areas in South Sumatra. Related to this, HD emphasized that the dew was not caused by the occurrence of forest and land fires.
“The last few days the weather was hot. However, because of the rain, the hot steam became dew, not a hot spot. We have confirmed with BMKG,” said HD.
According to him, the air quality in South Sumatra is still quite good. This can be seen through the Air Pollution Standards Index (ISPU).
“I hope the community does not clear land by burning. Hopefully this will continue to be maintained so that forest and land fires will no longer occur,” he said. (mhn/ril)
