Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru opened the Fishing Competition with the theme “Gabus: Metropolitan Casting Tournament 2022” to compete for the South Sumatra Governor’s Cup in order to welcome the 6th Anniversary of ASFC and the 77th Anniversary of Indonesia in 2022.
HD said that ASFC had extraordinary enthusiasm in organizing this Fishing Competition, seen from how they had prepared with the support of several parties.
“As an appreciation for efforts to preserve one of God’s extraordinary creations, I gave two motorbikes as door prizes for this activity, one motorbike for participants outside South Sumatra and the other motorbike for participants in South Sumatra,” said HD.
HD conveyed that this activity is a form of healthy fishing. It is hoped that maniac anglers will be willing to assist the government in implementing the right pattern for catching fish such as using fishing rods so as not to kill other animals that are not targeted.
HD also requested that the ASFC and the Provincial and Regency/City Fisheries Offices can maintain the sustainability of snakehead fish because South Sumatra is an area that has a swamp topography so that it must pay attention to the regeneration of snakehead fish, where snakehead fish is a highly sought after fish, especially in South Sumatra.
“Let’s catch it the right way by not blindly. Doing a seed stocking system when taking one means spreading a thousand seeds so that the regeneration of the fish we catch continues. We as citizens of our country must have the initiative to protect the snakehead fish habitat,” said HD.
