Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Governor of South Sumatra H. Mawardi Yahya said that it was necessary to coordinate between the Provincial and Regency/City Governments and it was important to carry out in order to maintain the inflation rate in all regions.
For this reason, it is hoped that the Regents/Mayors in South Sumatra will hold a low-cost market operation because this is our collective duty and responsibility in controlling inflation.
This was stated during the Coordination Meeting of the High Level Meeting (HLM) of the Regional Inflation Control Team discussing the Follow-up to the Instructions of the President of the Republic of Indonesia regarding Regional Inflation Control Efforts and Availability of Food Supplies at Ballroom 2 Hotel Aryaduta Palembang, Monday (10/10/2020).
“The inflation rate is one of the indicators that affect economic growth, the economy: regions will grow and run well if the inflation rate is high”
the area is maintained low and stable,” said Deputy Governor Mawardi Yahya (MY).
MY said, In August 2022 we were able to overcome the inflation rate by experiencing a decrease (deflation) of 0.82% (mtm) so that it was included in the 10 regions that were given appreciation by the Central government. Meanwhile, in September 2022, South Sumatra experienced a fairly high inflation impacted by the fuel price adjustment.
“As a result of this increase, there will be an increase in transportation costs and production costs and other factors so that it will suppress transportation costs price increases in several commodities which have an impact on the higher inflation rate and we know that South Sumatra’s economic growth is still quite good at 5.18%,” concluded MY.
Head of Bank of Indonesia Representative for South Sumatra R. Erwin Soeriadimadja said that South Sumatra Province in September 2022 experienced inflation of 1.26%, different from the previous month which recorded a deflation of -0.82% (mtm). (mhn/ril)
