Not Only Helping Food and Vitamins, HD Helping Rent Houses for Victims of the Pemulutan Fire

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H Herman Deru accompanied by the Regent of Ogan Ilir Panca Wijaya Akbar inspected the location of the fire in Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir which occurred on Thursday (22/7). During the review, HD brought a number of aids such as food packages, sleeping mats, basic necessities, proper clothes to medicines.

“This is a form of attention from the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Ogan Ilir Regency Government to the community, who of course will not remain silent if there are people who are hit by a disaster like this. We will do our best to help,” said Herman Deru during the review, Friday (23/7).

The assistance that HD brought included 100 packages of ready-to-eat food, 30 packages of children’s food, 30 packages of blankets, 30 packages of rolled tents, 30 packages of mattresses, 30 packages of family kits, 4 packages of kids ware, 65 packages of basic necessities, 4 sacks of proper clothing, vitamins. 48 bottles of syrup, 30 packets of vitamin tablets, 100 boxes of masks, and 72 boxes of medicines. The assistance was provided through the South Sumatra Provincial Social Service, BPBD, and the Health Office.

In fact, at this initial stage of assistance, HD also guarantees the food needs and the cost of renting a place to live for the fire victims for the next month.

It is known that the fire that hit Pemulutan Ilir Village, Pemulutan District, caused 26 houses to burn and 99 people lost their homes. This disaster is the second time that has occurred in the Ogan Ilir area in the last one month. Previously, a similar fire occurred in Ibul Besar III Village, Pemulutan District.

However, he is still grateful because the fire accident did not cause any casualties.

Regarding the reconstruction of the houses of the fire victims, he said he would still collect data.

He also appealed to the public to adhere to health protocols even though they are currently grieving. (jek/ril)
