Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, Dr. H. Herman Deru, attended the Special Plenary Meeting of the Penukal Abab Lematang Ilir (PALI) Regency DPRD in commemoration of its 13th Anniversary, Wednesday (22/4/2026).
Carrying the theme “Compact, Impactful Action,” this commemoration serves as a momentum to strengthen the foundations of equitable and quality development transformation.
The Regent of PALI, Asgianto, ST, expressed his deep appreciation for the Governor’s presence and the continued support from the Provincial Government in advancing the region, which is currently growing very rapidly.
In his remarks, Herman Deru praised PALI’s significant transformation, which has now become a strategic and busy area. He is optimistic that PALI can become a new “golden triangle” in South Sumatra, supported by its rich mining and agricultural sectors, as well as excellent land, water, and air transportation connectivity.
Governor HD emphasized the importance of activating airports and supporting transportation modes to increase regional competitiveness. In addition to infrastructure, he emphasized the importance of effective regional budget management as a development stimulus whose benefits are directly felt by the wider community.
Furthermore, the Governor encouraged the empowerment of the younger generation through the 100,000 Young Sultans program to create new entrepreneurs amidst low unemployment rates in South Sumatra.
He also highlighted the strategic role of women in addressing stunting to prepare a superior generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045.
Closing his remarks, Herman Deru emphasized that synergy between the executive, legislative, and active community involvement is key to addressing future development challenges in PALI Regency. (mhn/ril)
