Accelerating Exports Through the Role of Youth, Governor Herman Deru Opens the 2026 Sultan Muda XporA

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD), officially opened the Sultan Muda XporA 2026 event held at the OJK Office of South Sumatra Province, Tuesday (21/4).

In his remarks, HD expressed his pride in the enthusiasm of the youth members of the “Sultan Muda” (South Sumatra Independent Agriculture and Young Entrepreneurs) community. He noted that 9,008 young people in South Sumatra are now actively involved in business acceleration and exports.

“Young people must work hard and make business a hobby to generate extra effort. Progress is already very visible, with South Sumatra’s economic growth currently reaching 5.35% year-on-year. I encourage all young people in South Sumatra to seize this momentum,” said HD.

He further expressed his hope that the successful participants would not just focus on their personal achievements but would also become pioneers and inspire other young people. “These young sultans should serve as role models and encourage more young exporters to emerge from Sriwijaya,” he added.

Echoing this sentiment, Arifin Susanto, Head of the Financial Services Authority (OJK) for South Sumatra Province, emphasized the OJK’s commitment to being a hub for developing the Young Sultan program. Support provided includes financial literacy and the integration of digital payment systems through e-money.

“To date, 9,008 young Sultans are ready to be inaugurated. If this ecosystem continues to grow, it will have a massive impact on regional development and the economy. This is a strategic effort to foster independent and productive entrepreneurs,” said Arifin.

The event also featured concrete action, including the export of coconut derivative products to the international market, totaling Rp1.6 billion. This demonstrates the continued positive trend in the downstreaming of South Sumatra’s leading commodity.

Also present were heads of regional government agencies (OPD). (mhn/ril)
