Rare Cooking Oil, Provincial Legislative Council of South Sumatra Come to PT SAP

Banyuasin, The Indonesia Post – Commission II of the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) together with the South Sumatra Province Trade Office conducted an inspection of the cooking oil factory of PT Sinar Alam Permai (SAP) on Jalan Sabar Jaya, Prajen Village, Banyu Asin I District, Banyu Asin Regency, Thursday (24/2/2022).

“The scarcity occurs because distributors buy at prices above Rp. 14 thousand per liter, while the retail price is Rp. 14 thousand per liter, there is a price difference. This scarcity is due to a refaction program (payment of price difference by the government to producers or distributors) from the government so that distributors have difficulty selling cooking oil in the market,” said Chairman of Commission II of the South Sumatra DPRD, Asgianto.

According to Gerindra Party politicians, this was done to anticipate the occurrence of supply shortages and rising prices of basic necessities, especially cooking oil ahead of the holy months of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr.

Meanwhile, according to Simon Panjaitan as the head of PT Sinar Alam Permai in the South Sumatra region, said that this month alone, SAP had distributed around 10 thousand tons of cooking oil to the community. His party is committed and consistent in helping the government program, namely the cooking oil refaction program.

“It’s not a scarcity, but the sales are very high, so the market demand is bigger. Therefore, we invite companies to be committed to meeting market needs so that the supply of cooking oil is sufficient,” said Simon.

He hopes that producers, government and society will run well so that the supply of cooking oil is fulfilled. Simon admitted that there was a decline in production due to the increase in world CPO prices. (mhn/ril)
