South Sumatra Acting Governor Presents Awards for the Achievements of Athletes and Trainers of PORWIL Sumatra XI in 2023

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Acting (Pj) Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) Agus Fatoni symbolically handed over awards in the form of bonus money to Athletes and Coaches who had fought at the XI Sumatra Regional Sports Week (Porwil) in 2023. This bonus was given as a form of appreciation and recognition for the achievements of the athletes and coaches who have won medals at Porwil 2023, at Griya Agung, Wednesday (27/3/2024).

“Congratulations to all the athletes and coaches who have fought and made achievements at the Porwil in Riau yesterday so that they can make the name of South Sumatra proud, of course we from the Provincial Government are giving this bonus as a form of appreciation and appreciation and of course we are proud, touched and happy to this, said Fatoni.

Fatoni said that the South Sumatra Provincial Government will continue to provide support and support for the progress of sports achievements in South Sumatra.

“The achievements made by all the official athletes, coaches and contingents at Porwil yesterday were hard work, therefore the Provincial Government continues to support, help and encourage progress in sports achievements in South Sumatra,” he said.

According to Fatoni, the achievements achieved by athletes from South Sumatra at the 2023 Porwil in Riau yesterday were not the last, therefore Fatoni hopes that the athletes will continue to increase their potential, train harder so that at the upcoming National Sports Week (PON) in Aceh, South Sumatra can achieve more even higher.

“The struggle is still long, the struggle is not only in matches or in the arena but the struggle is carried out at any time and time. “In the future, the students will compete in PON, therefore we need to prepare carefully and consistently, of course this is not just the job of KONI and Dispora, but this is the responsibility of all of us here,” he said.

On this occasion, Fatoni also reminded the athletes to uphold support, maintain discipline and be consistent in order to become outstanding and professional athletes.

“I am sure that athletes who have a true fighting spirit have high levels of discipline and consistency, not only chasing bonuses, but also the values of sportsmanship that we need to uphold, always instilling the spirit of never giving up. If we excel, of course this will benefit ourselves, our families, Regional to State,” he added.

Fatoni further said that many parties would support athletes from South Sumatra to continue achieving achievements at both national and international levels.

“Here there are Forkooimda and related agencies who will continue to pay attention to the athletes in South Sumatra so that all of you can continue to strive for achievements. “The bonus given is certainly not much considering your struggle, but at least this can give you encouragement to be even more active,” he said.

At the end of his instructions, Fatoni hoped that athletes and coaches would not be quickly satisfied with what they had achieved. Therefore, he hopes that there will be an evaluation because according to him, achievement in sports is a noble struggle and must continue to be improved.

“Once again, on behalf of the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the community, congratulations to the athletes who have achieved achievements, see you next time. “Because this sport is a noble struggle, I hope there will be an evaluation of what is lacking, what we have done so far,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Head of the South Sumatra Province Youth and Sports Service, Rudi Irawan, in his report said that allowance bonuses for athletes and coaches who had achieved achievements in the 2023 Regional Porwil were distributed to athletes who won Gold, Silver and Bronze medals.

“Through the Decree of the Governor of South Sumatra No: 143/KPTS/Dispora/2024 concerning the provision of bonuses to Regional Area Athletes and Trainers, a bonus of Rp. 32,000,000 for individual gold medal winners, individual silver medal Rp. 20,000,000 and an individual bronze medal of Rp. 10,000,000 while for team athletes 1-5 people who win gold medals get a bonus of Rp. 35,000,000, silver medal Rp. 25,000,000 and a bronze medal of Rp. 15,000,000,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the criteria for team athletes consisting of 6-10 people get a bonus of IDR. 45,000,000 for gold medals, silver team medals Rp. 30,000,000 and the bronze medal gets Rp. 17,500,000.

Followed by more than 11 team athletes who received a bonus of Rp. 70,000,000 for gold medal winners, Rp. 35,000,000 for silver winners, and Rp. 20,000,000 for bronze medalists.

“For trainers there are three categories including Rp. 10,000,000, Rp. 6,000,000 and Rp. “4,000,000, the bonus given has also been transferred to their respective accounts. Thank God, it was handed over before Eid al-Fitr according to the Governor’s instructions,” he stressed.

Rudi said at Porwil in 2023, South Sumatra Province sent 176 athletes including coaches and South Sumatra was ranked 4th. This ranking increased from 2019, when South Sumatra was ranked 9th.

“With the struggle and enthusiasm of the South Sumatra coaches, they succeeded in being ranked 4th in this activity, this was also due to the encouragement and enthusiasm of the South Sumatra Government and the Governor so that we were able to win 15 gold medals consisting of 10 individual medals, 5 team gold medals, then for “We managed to win 28 silver medals, namely 19 individuals, 8 teams and 1 silver medal, 15 bronze medals were won,” he concluded.
