South Sumatra Legislative Chairman Invites Public to Take Advantage of LRT

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the Legislative Council (DPRD) South Sumatra (Sumsel), Hj RA Anita Noeringhati invites all elements to be involved in utilizing the Palembang-Banyuasin Light Rapid Transit (LRT), South Sumatra. This was conveyed by the Golkar politician during field monitoring and inspection at the Banyuasin KAI LRT office.

“This LRT is the first in Indonesia, this is our asset and the pride of the people of South Sumatra, so we must really take advantage of it,” said RA Anita, Thursday (25/8).

It is said that the first woman who served as chairman of the DPRD of South Sumatra, currently income from this LRT only relies on tickets / passenger tickets. So it is not enough to cover operational costs.

“We hope that this LRT will not only serve as transportation, but also become an integrated educational facility by involving educational institutions. In addition, the use of assets for commercial purposes can be carried out along the LRT and owned stations,” she said.

Ra Anita invites all elements to be actively involved in the use of this LRT, so that later income will not only come from tickets, but advertisements and innovations managed by management.

“I invite all elements including the South Sumatra Provincial Government, the city of Palembang and the private sector to get involved, starting from the use of assets, providing parking lots, supporting events and encouraging the use of this LRT, in the future we hope to be able to provide income to the region through this LRT,” she hoped.

Meanwhile, the Head of the South Sumatra Light Railroad Management Center, Dedik Tri Istiantara, emphasized that currently people’s interest in taking the LRT has increased. From the data, in 2021 as many as 1.5 million passengers took the LRT. While this year in August alone, it has reached more than 1.7 million passengers.

“Most of them are on weekends, especially if there are events like August 17 and then people watch the Bidar competition. Of the 13 stations, most go up and down at the Hajj and Ampera Dormitory stations,” said Dedik.

He said a number of innovations had been made in increasing the number of passengers, including by providing promos for the student, ASN and general categories. “The ticket from the airport station is Rp. 10 thousand, other than that it is Rp. 5 thousand. There is also a collaboration with Damri for Unsri students and other promos,” he said.

Regarding asset utilization, his party is currently conducting a survey involving MRT Jakarta so that in the future it can be utilized as well as additional income from other sectors to meet the operational needs of the LRT.

“In one year of operation we reach Rp 120 billion. We expect support from the local government to be able to make our program a success,” he said. (ojn/bbs)
