Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, said that Indonesia has managed to handle inflation in the country compared to other countries.
“The world’s challenges don’t just stop here, we are entering what is called the perfect storm, namely 5C. The 5C is the COVID-19 pandemic that has not yet been completed, the next conflict or conflicts that occurred in Ukraine and Russia that have an impact on Indonesia,” said Airlangga at the University of Pelita Harapan (UPH) Festival in Tangerang, Friday.
Next is climate change or climate change. Then commodity or rising commodity prices, and energy, as well as rising costs of living or cost of living. In the United States, inflation reached 8.5 percent, while in European countries it was above nine percent. Likewise, Singapore’s inflation reached nine percent.
“Well, we are still 4.9 percent until June 2022. Indonesia has succeeded in handling inflation with a cushion called the government budget in the APBN,” he explained.
When compared to the budget for fuel subsidies in 2022, which is IDR 502 trillion and the handling of COVID-19, a budget of IDR 600 to IDR 900 trillion per year has been prepared.
Airlangga said that in the next 10 years, Indonesia will face a demographic bonus. Indonesia will be a country that will enjoy a demographic bonus until 2035.
“History records Indonesia’s per capita income of US$2,000, now it is US$4,000. We have to get out of the middle class category in the next few years by increasing per capita income. This is a challenge for students,” he added.
One that can change this situation is digital transformation. In that case, students have an important role in digital transformation.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Communication and Information, Johnny G Plate said that Indonesia’s transformation journey is far from over. Students hold the leadership relay in Indonesia’s recovery as well as digital leadership.
“We want to drive Indonesia as a digital hub for Southeast Asia and Asia. For that, one of my messages for students to always work with a clean mind and based on the values of love. I am confident and optimistic that the unity of all components of the nation can lead Indonesia, and even the world, to recover faster, to rise stronger,” added the Minister of Communication and Informatics.
