Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairperson of the South Sumatra Province Legislative Council (DPRD), Hj. R.A. Anita Noeringhati, SH., MH., attended the 2023 South Sumatra Province Karhutla Control Coordination Meeting (Forest and Land Fires) and took part in the South Sumatra Forest and Forestry Troops and Equipment Event at the South Sumatra BPBD Office, Palembang. Friday (08/09/2023).
This activity was attended by various parties involved in efforts to overcome forest and land fires in South Sumatra Province, including elements of the TNI, Polri and BPBD. This coordination meeting is an important moment to plan strategic steps to overcome potential forest and land fires that often occur in this area.
In her statement, Mrs. Anita Noeringhati emphasized the importance of cooperation between agencies in dealing with the forest and land fires problem. He said, “We must be united and ready to face the threat of forest and land fires swiftly. Good cooperation and coordination are very important in efforts to prevent and overcome forest and land fires.”
This coordination meeting is also a forum for participants to share information, experiences and the best strategies for dealing with the dry season which can increase the risk of forest and land fires. The Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, General TNI Dudung Abdurachman led the Call for Forest and Forestry Troops and Equipment which was part of thorough preparations in facing the potential for Forest and Land Fires.
General Dudung Abdurachman in his speech said, “We must ensure that all parties involved in efforts to prevent and deal with forest and land fires have adequate equipment and are ready to act quickly.”
Apart from coordination meetings, this event is also intended to educate the public about the importance of protecting the environment and preventing actions that could trigger forest and land fires, such as illegal land burning. This preventive step is one strategy to avoid fires which can harm many parties. (ojn/ril)
