Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra, H. Herman Deru (HD) performed Friday prayers in congregation with the residents of the Kencana Damai Complex, District. Suka Maju, Sako Palembang at the Al – Haida Mosque.
Through this opportunity, HD said that he really appreciates the construction of a mosque whose funding comes from community donations.
“What I appreciate as an umaroh is our enthusiasm for building a house of worship that relies on the strength of the Muslim community itself. This spirit of cooperation in building is the essence,” said HD.
HD and his companion provided assistance amounting to Rp. 116 million for the completion of the mosque construction and Rp. 10 million for the needs of the women’s taklim assembly.
HD also appealed again to the public not to ask for donations to build mosques on the roads, because this could also cause accidents and disrupt the smooth flow of vehicle traffic and degrade the religion of Islam itself.
Regarding forest and land fires, HD appealed to the public not to worry because the air conditions are currently still at normal conditions. He also asked the public to help the task force team in the field with prayers.
Today’s conditions, ISPU is at 100 and that is normal. If it is above 200, we will urge people to use masks. I hope that all of you can provide prayer assistance to the task force team in the field. “To date, more than 9,000 people have been deployed to protect forest and land fire-prone areas,” concluded HD.
