South Sumatra Legislative Council Chairperson Approves Draft Regional Regulation on Bank Sumsel Babel to Become a Regional Company

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD) ratified the Draft Regional Regulation (Raperda) regarding the change in status of PT Bank Sumsel Babel to a Regional Limited Liability Company (Perseroda). The signing of the joint decision was carried out by the Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Elen Setiadi, and the Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD, Hj Anita Noeringhati, in the XCI Plenary Meeting of the South Sumatra DPRD which took place in the Plenary Meeting Room of the South Sumatra DPRD, Friday (13/9).

The plenary meeting led by the Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD, Hj Anita Noeringhati, was also attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the DPRD, Hj Kartika Sandra Desi, as well as the ranks of the Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) and related agencies.

Spokesperson for the South Sumatra DPRD Special Committee V, Ahmad Toha, conveyed the results of in-depth discussions regarding this Raperda. According to him, after going through studies and discussions with various parties, including consultations with the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government, Pansus V agreed to accept the Raperda with several corrections and improvements.

“Special Committee V concluded that it could understand and approve the Draft Regional Regulation on PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumatera Selatan and Bangka Belitung (Perseroda), to be stipulated as a Regional Regulation of South Sumatra Province,” said Ahmad Toha.

Special Committee V also provided several recommendations, one of which was requesting that the Board of Directors of Bank Sumsel Babel immediately hold a General Meeting of Shareholders (GMS) to change the company’s Articles of Association after the Draft Regional Regulation was ratified. In addition, the Special Committee encouraged the management of Bank Sumsel Babel to run its business according to the strategic plan that had been prepared in the bank’s Corporate Plan and Business Plan.

Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Elen Setiadi, in his remarks, stated that changing the legal status of Bank Sumsel Babel to Perseroda was an important step in increasing competitiveness and expanding the bank’s operational reach. This is in line with national, global, and technological economic developments.

“This change in legal form aims to increase the role of Bank Sumsel Babel, as well as strengthen synergy between the South Sumatra Provincial Government, the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government, and all district/city governments in the two provinces,” said Elen.

Elen also appreciated the hard work of Special Committee V and the South Sumatra DPRD in discussing this Draft Regional Regulation. “We are very grateful for the attention and cooperation of the leadership and all honorable members of the council, especially Special Committee V,” she added. The Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD, Hj Anita Noeringhati, closed the meeting with the hope that the decisions taken would bring great benefits to the people of South Sumatra and Bangka Belitung. “Hopefully what we do today will be a blessing for all of us and the people of South Sumatra,” she concluded.
