Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Chairman of the Legislative Council (DPRD) of South Sumatra Province, Hj. R.A. Anita Noeringhati, SH., MH., attended as well as being a resource person at the National Workshop “1001 New Energy Innovations for the Country from Sriwijaya Earth” in commemoration of the 11th Anniversary of the Sumsel Tribune which was held at Griya Agung Palembang, Thursday (13/07 /2023).
In her remarks, the Chairman of the DPRD of South Sumatra said that South Sumatra has great potential for the development of new renewable energy (EBT). “One of the biggest potentials is the potential for geothermal energy. South Sumatra has geothermal energy potential of 27,000 megawatts, which is the largest in Indonesia,” she explained.
She also said that the South Sumatra provincial government had issued Regional Regulation Number 1 of 2018 concerning the Regional Energy Master Plan (RIKEDA) which mandated that the portion of EBT in the South Sumatra province’s energy mix must reach 23% by 2025.

“South Sumatra has great potential for the development of new and renewable energy,” said the Chairman of the DPRD of South Sumatra.
The Chairperson of the South Sumatra DPRD hopes that this National Workshop can increase the awareness of the people of South Sumatra about the importance of developing EBT. He also hopes that the resource persons can provide input to the South Sumatra Provincial government in developing EBT in South Sumatra. (ojn/ril)
