Palembang, The Indonesia Post – In order to implement the provisions of Article 35 paragraph (3) of Law 25/2009 concerning Public Services which states that the supervisory board of public service implementation consists of internal and external supervisors, where external supervision of the implementation of public services is carried out by the community, the Indonesian Ombudsman, the People’s Representative Council, the Provincial People’s Representative Council, and the Regency/City Representative Council, on Monday (24/2/2025), the Representative of the Indonesian Ombudsman for South Sumatra Province made a working visit to the Chairperson of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD.

The meeting that took place in the meeting room of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD was warm and flowing with the main topic being discussed between the Chairperson of the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD Andie Dinialdie and the Head of the South Sumatra Ombudsman Representative Office M. Adrian Agustiansyah along with the Maladministration Prevention Assistant staff regarding public service issues for people with disabilities, as well as a number of other issues.
According to Andie, the prominent public service issues that received a lot of attention from the Bumi Sriwijaya community in 202 were related to the New Student Admissions (PPDB) for the Achievement Pathway at the SMAN level in Palembang City, the issuance of Ownership Certificates (SHM) via PTSL in a number of districts/cities that have not been completed for years, street lights that are always off, non-transparent PPPK recruitment, and a number of other public service issues.
Specifically for the 2024 SMAN Achievement Pathway PPDB in Palembang City, the Indonesian Ombudsman has issued a Recommendation to the South Sumatra Provincial Government. Adrian explained that the recommendation is mandatory and binding, so it is expected to be followed up immediately by the newly inaugurated Governor of South Sumatra. Furthermore, the Ombudsman RI Representative Office of South Sumatra also focuses on public services for people with disabilities. As a form of this, in 2025 public services or accessibility for people with disabilities will become a topic of study, of course without leaving out prevention and supervision of other public service objects.
Based on a number of public service problems that occurred in Bumi Sriwijaya, Adrian said the urgency of synergy and collaboration with fellow public service supervisory institutions, namely the South Sumatra Provincial DPRD, is a strategic step that will be taken by the South Sumatra Ombudsman in the future, amidst budget efficiency from the central government. He ensured that even though there is currently significant budget efficiency at the South Sumatra Representative Office, supervision and prevention activities for maladministration will continue as they should.
Meanwhile, Andie Dinialdie welcomed the arrival of the South Sumatra Ombudsman RI Representative Office to the people’s house. He explained that so far his party has been following the development of activities carried out by the Ombudsman RI Representative of South Sumatra, especially regarding the problem of PPDB SMAN Achievement Path 2024 in Palembang City. He also hopes that in the midst of the budget efficiency faced by the Ombudsman RI Representative of South Sumatra, that activities to prevent maladministration and supervision of the implementation of public services in South Sumatra, both those organized by the South Sumatra Provincial Government and State-Owned Enterprises and Regional-Owned Enterprises, will continue to be carried out by utilizing technology and collaboration between public service supervisory institutions.
Andie Dinialdie said that all public service problems that occur in South Sumatra must receive attention. He gave an example, some time ago, a group of people with disabilities from South Sumatra came to complain that the service standards were not in their favor. Therefore, in the future, activities will be carried out together with the Ombudsman RI Representative of Sumatra, starting with supervision of facilities and public service standards for people with disabilities at a number of points, then continued with other supervision activities.
