South Sumatra Legislative Council Ready to Help ASBMMT Resolve the Pondok Mesudji Dispute

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – Dozens of people from the Alliance of South Sumatra United Against the Land Mafia (ASBMMT) held a demonstration at the South Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) office, Wednesday (10/8).

They urged the DPRD and the South Sumatra Provincial Government to take legal action against the dispute over the Pondok Mesudji Dormitory, which is located in the Wirobrajan Village, Yogyakarta.

According to Hafiz’s coordination of actions, Pondok Mesudji was originally an asset of the Batang Hari Sembilan Education Foundation which was established in 1952.

Then in 2015 it was controlled by the land mafia who created a new foundation and ended up selling the student dormitory.

“Therefore, we students are not just silent to report the actions of the land mafia, and now we have filed an appeal,” he said.

In fact, according to Hafis, the cottage is very useful for students and students who are studying in Jogja.
He urged the South Sumatra DPRD, South Sumatra Provincial Government, South Sumatra Police, and the Ministry of ATR/BPN to find the real facts in order to save this dormitory which is intended for education, and also for the sake of justice and South Sumatra’s dignity,” he said.

The chairman of the DPRD for the province of South Sumatra, Hj RA Anita Noeringhati, who met the demonstrators, stated that he would help with legal settlement efforts and fully support what the students and the community were doing.

“Because in fact through the civil route we lost in court, one of the reasons is because we can’t prove the ownership of the cottage so we have to make legal standing efforts,” said this Golkar Party politician.

Her party continued to voice that the provincial government’s assets should not be let go, one of the reasons is that the assets were not properly verified so they changed hands.

Therefore, so that such problems do not occur again, the Provincial Government must take an inventory so that the assets of the South Sumatra Provincial Government do not change hands or disputes in the future.
