The Head of the South Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council (DPRD), H. Nopianto, welcomed the arrival of the Deputy Governor after attending the simultaneous inauguration of regional heads at the presidential palace on Thursday, 20/02/2025.
Upon arrival at Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin (SMB) II Airport in Palembang at around 15:35 WIB, Friday (21/2/2025) using a Garuda Indonesia aircraft, the Deputy Governor of South Sumatra (Sumsel) for the 2025-2030 period, Cik Ujang and his family were also welcomed with flower garlands by the Regional Secretary of South Sumatra Drs H Edward Candra MH and his wife along with the Forkopimda ranks and the Head of OPDs within the South Sumatra Provincial Government.
Cik Ujang admitted that she and her family were touched and happy about the welcome.
“This is how it feels to be the Deputy Governor of South Sumatra. Welcomed and very lively. In the past, when I was the Regent of Lahat, there was no welcome like this,” said Cik Ujang.
He continued that the one who had just returned was the former Deputy Governor, while the Governor of South Sumatra Herman Deru will return on February 28.
“Currently, the Governor is undergoing a retreat at the Magelang Military Academy. Later, let’s work together to complete the Governor’s work program. Let’s collaborate and synergize with all parties,” he said.
He also expressed his gratitude to the South Sumatra Regional Secretary and the South Sumatra Forkopimda who had welcomed him and his family.
“Thank you to everyone for this welcome. I am happy that the Governor and I were finally inaugurated, because we were previously worried that our inauguration would be postponed again. Alhamdulillah, we were inaugurated,” he said.
Meanwhile, Edward Candra conveyed his welcome and congratulations on carrying out his duties to H Cik Ujang as Acting Governor of South Sumatra while Governor Herman Deru took part in the retreat which lasted for 8 days starting from February 21 to 28, 2025.
“In connection with the Governor being on retreat, on this occasion we also submit a letter of appointment for the Deputy Governor as Acting Governor of South Sumatra,” said Edward. (ojn/bbs)
