The Governor and Deputy Governor of South Sumatra Performed Eid al-Fitr Prayers with the Community, Encouraging Strengthening of Ties and Togetherness

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – A solemn, warm, and meaningful atmosphere enveloped the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri prayer at the Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin Jayo Wikramo Grand Mosque on Saturday (March 21, 2026). Thousands of worshippers from across Palembang packed the mosque, the pride of the people of South Sumatra, from early morning.

Amidst the gathering, South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru and Deputy Governor H. Cik Ujang also performed Eid al-Fitr prayers with the community.
In his remarks, Governor Herman Deru conveyed his Eid al-Fitr greetings to all the people of South Sumatra. He encouraged everyone to use Eid al-Fitr as a means to strengthen brotherhood, strengthen relationships, and sincerely forgive one another.

“On behalf of myself and the South Sumatra Provincial Government, I wish you a Happy Eid al-Fitr 1447 H / 2026 M. Minal aidin wal faizin, please forgive me physically and mentally,” he said with full sincerity.

Herman Deru further emphasized that Eid al-Fitr is not just a celebration, but also a time to return to one’s natural state, improve oneself, and strengthen the values ​​of togetherness in community life. He hopes the spirit of Ramadan will be maintained in daily life.

“Hopefully, we can continue to maintain and embody the good values ​​we have developed during Ramadan in our social life, for a more harmonious and prosperous South Sumatra,” he added. The
Eid al-Fitr prayers proceeded in an orderly and solemn manner. The congregation appeared devout as they followed the series of prayers, from the takbir (recitation of the Koran) and the congregational prayer to the Eid al-Fitr sermon, which was rich in moral and spiritual messages.

In the spirit of Eid al-Fitr, Governor Herman Deru invited all people to move forward together, leaving behind differences, and strengthening unity for the better progress of South Sumatra in the future.
