Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana Jokowi spent the weekend taking their grandchildren to the Prambanan Temple Tourism Park in Sleman, DI Yogyakarta, Saturday (7/1/2023), while promoting this educational tourist destination.
The President visited Prambanan Temple with his eldest son Gibran Rakabuming Raka, his daughter-in-law Selvi Ananda, and two grandchildren namely Jan Ethes Srinarendra and La Lembah Manah, according to a media briefing received in Jakarta.
During the visit, the President’s family entourage was guided directly by the Head of the Cultural Preservation Center for Region X of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek), Manggar Sari, who explained the history of Prambanan Temple.
The President’s eldest grandson, Jan Ethes, seemed to pay attention to every explanation given by Manggar about this world cultural heritage.
“This is the biggest,” said Manggar while pointing at the Shiva Temple which is 47 meters high.
The Head of State also invited his two grandchildren to enter one of the temples, to take a closer look at the reliefs engraved there.
The presence of President Jokowi’s family was enough to attract the enthusiasm of Prambanan Temple visitors who did not expect to have the opportunity to meet the number one person.
“I never thought that the study tour would have Pak Jokowi,” said one visitor named Amelia.
Prambanan Temple Tourism Park is one of the favorite tourist destinations for people to spend time on vacation.
Previously, President Jokowi had also called on officials, both central and regional, to always promote domestic tourism in order to boost the potential of Indonesia’s tourist destinations.
“Once again, please invite the people, Mr. Governor, Mr. Regent, Mr. Mayor, to only travel within the country,” said the President when giving directions to the heads of ministries/institutions of the Indonesia Onward Cabinet, regional heads, BUMN leaders, regional military command commanders, regional police chief, and chief prosecutor at the Jakarta Convention Center, mid-September 2022.
