Tito: Regional Leaders Continues to Campaign for Health Protocols to Prevent COVID-19 Omicron Variant

Bandar Lampung, The Indonesia Post – Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian asked all regional leaders to continue campaigning for health protocols (prokes) to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.

“I have conveyed to the Governor of Lampung, the mayor, and the regent to continue campaigning for health promotion, especially the use of masks because whatever variants they come in through the respiratory cavity,” said the Minister of Home Affairs, in Bandarlampung, Wednesday night.

He asked all regional heads in Lampung to speed up vaccination, especially for the elderly (elderly) by “door to door”.

“It is hoped that the death rate and community infection against COVID-19, especially the elderly, can decrease,” he said.

The Minister of Home Affairs reminded all regional heads not to be careless because in the next two weeks, after Christmas and New Year’s 2022 is a very important period and hopefully there won’t be a spike nationally, including the case in Lampung which will remain sloping.

“This is a very important test with a high enough immunity as our capital. Hopefully, the presence of the Omicron variant can be overcome by the relatively high ability of the antibodies that have been announced,” he said.

However, Tito asked all regions to prepare a worst-case scenario in the event of a spike in COVID-19 cases.

“When there is a spike in cases entering the hospital, we are ready to provide maximum care. In this one month, I ask that everything be prepared, be it medicine, health workers, oxygen, and others, we must learn from past experiences,” he said. (rma/bbs)
