Palembang, The Indonesia Post – South Sumatra Governor H Herman Deru emphasized his commitment to improving the welfare of religious teachers and strengthening religious guidance, even to the correctional institution environment (Lapas).
This was conveyed after inaugurating the Management of the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Mosque Youth Communication Agency (DPW BKPRMI) of South Sumatra for the 2025-2030 Service Period at Griya Agung, Palembang, Thursday (8/5/2025).
HD appreciated the big role of BKPRMI in guiding young people to become useful individuals and make achievements, including the many hafiz and hafizah in South Sumatra. He emphasized the importance of the district/city government’s attention to ustadz and ustadzah, and called for no more religious teachers to be neglected.
“To the Regent/Mayor, in the future there should be no more ustadz and ustadzah who are not paid attention to by their regional heads. How the government is present as umaroh to pay attention to the development of religion so that there is balance,” said HD.
Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections, Yusril Ihza Mahendra, who attended virtually, appreciated the important role of BKPRMI and expressed his gratitude to Governor Herman Deru for his attention to the development of religious education in South Sumatra.
The General Chairperson of DPP BKPRMI, Nanang Mubarok, appreciated the support of Governor Herman Deru and regional heads throughout South Sumatra in collaborating with BKPRMI. He also welcomed the idea of the Musabaqah Tilawatil Quran (MTQ) program between prisons proposed by DPW BKPRMI South Sumatra and has the potential to be raised to the national level.
On that occasion, an MoU was also signed between BKPRMI South Sumatra and prisons throughout South Sumatra regarding the opening of TPA units in prisons, as well as an MoU between DPD BKPRMI districts/cities throughout South Sumatra and district/city governments throughout South Sumatra to improve the welfare of religious teachers. The event was closed with the launch of Gerbang Tahfidz. (ojn/ril)
