President Jokowi distributes aid to traders in Surakarta

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and First Lady Iriana distributed direct assistance to traders and the public at a number of markets in Surakarta, Central Java, Thursday, from Mojosongo Market, Gede Market, Gading Market, to Harjodaksino Market.

Based on information received from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat, in Jakarta, the traders in a number of markets are grateful for the assistance that the President has given them directly.

A seller of lenjongan or sweet snacks typical of the city of Surakarta named Rubina expressed his gratitude for the assistance that the President and Mrs. Iriana had given.

“Thank you, thank you. The help is for increasing merchandise, adding (paying) rent, continuing to cover the daily needs of the family. Thank you very much,” said Rubina at Pasar Gede, Surakarta.

Hermawan, a pedicab driver in Pasar Gede also conveyed his gratitude, who along with his colleagues received direct assistance from the Head of State.

“This is the President, Mr. Jokowi, who can get all of the help, the group of rickshaw brothers all around Solo,” said Hermawan.

Meanwhile at Harjodaksino Market, a trader named Aminah on behalf of other traders expressed her gratitude for the assistance that had been given. Aminah said the assistance would be used to increase business capital.

“Happy, make capital. Thank you for your concern for the people,” said Aminah.

While visiting these markets, the President and Mrs. Iriana had time to shop for salted eggs, fruits, cooking utensils such as rice spoons and stilts.

The President said that assistance was given to encourage the economy to recover.

“Aid for traders, MSMEs, and street vendors in Mojosongo Market, Gede Market, Gading Market, Harjodaksino Market, and artists. There is additional capital to encourage the economy to recover,” said the President at Mojosongo Market.

Also accompanying the President and Mrs. Iriana on the visit were Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, Governor of Central Java Ganjar Pranowo, Mayor of Surakarta Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and Special Staff Coordinator for the President Ari Dwipayana.
