Formula E is the beginning of the introduction of Mercedes electric cars in Indonesia

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia considers that the Formula E event in Jakarta is the opening event for the German manufacturer to introduce the all-new EQS electric car.

Choi Duk Jun, President Director of PT Mercedes-Benz Distribution Indonesia in a press release on Friday said, “For Mercedes-Benz, it is an honor that an event as big as Formula E is held in Indonesia.”

“Formula E is a big step for electric vehicles in Indonesia because this is the first time racing with electric cars has been held in Indonesia. With the start of the Formula E tournament, we are increasingly confident about the launch of our first electric vehicle, the all-new EQS,” he said.

He added, “We believe that with the electrification of Mercedes-Benz in Indonesia, we will have the opportunity to experience not only efficiency, but also comfort and luxury through the upcoming Mercedes-EQ model.”

The Mercedes-EQ Formula E team will taste entering new territory in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship which will be held at the Jakarta street circuit on Saturday (4/6).

Indonesia’s capital race track has a length of 2.37 km and 18 corners. The best overtaking opportunities will most likely be at Turns 1 and 13. Gen2 cars can reach a maximum speed of 220 km/h as they approach Turn 1 and lap times are estimated to be around 1:07 minutes.

The difference between 250kW and 220kW in the new circuit is estimated to be around 0.6 seconds. The activation zone for Attack Mode is at Turn 16 where the driver will lose 1.2 seconds while driving outside the normal racing line.

The ninth round of the season in Jakarta is a one-day event with all sessions, including first practice, second practice, qualifying and the E-Prix held on Saturday, 4 June.

Stoffel Vandoorne, Mercedes-EQ driver said, “New city, new circuit. Jakarta may not be familiar to many people, but I like exploring new tracks.”. (mhn/bbs)
