Khofifah Optimists Airlangga University graduates are ready to face global challenges

Surabaya, The Indonesia Post – East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa is optimistic that as many as 1,320 graduates of Airlangga University (Unair) Surabaya are ready and strong to face global challenges.

Khofifah in a press release received in Surabaya, Sunday, asked Airlangga University Surabaya graduates to become strong human beings like the songs of musician Tulus.

“Airlangga University graduates must be strong human beings in facing the uncertainties of the world economy,” she said.

“Welcome the knights of Airlangga to the great network of the Unair Alumni Association. I believe that every Unair alumni has sufficient knowledge as well as a strong mentality to be ready and strong to face global challenges,” said Governor Khofifah.

She said that the global world is currently full of uncertainties and is faced with a number of challenges, ranging from the threat of an economic crisis, an energy crisis to a food crisis.

In fact, as stated by IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva, 2023 is predicted to be a gloomy period with an increased risk of recession. Kristalina even said that the world economy is predicted to be gloomy towards the dark.

“However, with the provision of qualified knowledge, deep-rooted leadership, and also strong problem-solving skills, I am confident and optimistic that great Unair graduates will become lights and will be able to survive even in difficult conditions,” she said.

Moreover, currently Universitas Airlangga is ranked 369th in the QS World University Rankings in the Top 500 World-Level Universities, while at the Asian level, Unair is now ranked 81st.

For this reason, said Governor Khofifah, graduates must have the IKI character which stands for initiative, collaboration and innovation. The three characters will be the answer to every current global challenge.

“To respond to today’s global challenges requires individuals who always have initiative, do not hesitate to build collaborations, and also continuously create innovations. The IKI character is present in every Airlangga knight,” she said.

If IKI’s character is always applied, Governor Khofifah believes that Unair alumni will become game changers in their respective fields. Become a game changer when looking for solutions to the complexity of the problems you face. (mhn/bbs)
