The collaboration between the South Sumatra Provincial Government and PT. XL. Axiata TBK (XLCL) is H. Herman Deru’s serious concern in supporting the smooth learning process of students in South Sumatra amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Governor of South Sumatra, Herman Deru, in his remarks mentioned some of the obstacles experienced by the world of education in South Sumatra during the online learning process. Among them there are about 31.63 percent of signal constraints. Meanwhile, 48.89 percent had problems with quotas, while the remaining 19.48 percent had problems because they did not have a smartphone.

Herman Deru gave his appreciation for the active role of PT. XL. Axiata TBK, which has provided 300 thousand quota cards for South Sumatra students. He also hopes that XL can realize its idea of providing smartphones that are suitable for use for underprivileged students.

“The obstacles that have occurred so far, Alhamdulillah, have been answered with the help of providers from XL, but the number has reached 300 thousand quota. If this is not enough, XL is ready to increase the number,” he said.

Not only that, HD also said that in the near future, to be exact, on October 28, 2020, he would launch the South Sumatra Blank Spot Free by presenting a tool in the form of a repeater made by SMK children throughout South Sumatra.

“I also challenge vocational students to build a repeater so that the signal becomes broad. My hope is that CSR encourages these vocational school children, including the assistance of providers and internet service providers to help this child run, at least navigating the blank spots,” he said.

Meanwhile, Vice president of XL Axiata Regional Sumatra (West Region), Dessy Sari Dewi said that his party is very proud to be able to contribute to helping people who are in trouble.

“We feel our responsibility to help ease the burden on society. So that school children can study in the midst of the pandemic,” he said.

He said, currently XL Axiata provides as many as 300 thousand internet cards through two stages for free.

“For the first stage we have given 150 thousand and the second stage will give another 150 thousand. Well, if 300 thousand is still lacking, we will prepare again,” he said.

Dessy explained that the quota package given is 30 GB when the card is activated, it will get an additional quota of 55 GB, so the card will get a total quota of 85 GB.

“Later there will also be additional quota from XL every month. We are very proud to be able to participate, thank you for everything. Hopefully this will be useful for students in South Sumatra,” he said. (jekk/ril)
