Elen Setiadi Attends High Level Meeting and Capacity Building of TPID Throughout South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – In order to suppress the inflation rate in South Sumatra, the Acting Governor of South Sumatra Elen Setiadi attended the High Level Meeting and Capacity Building of TPID throughout South Sumatra, he was present to provide direction regarding the development of inflation in South Sumatra, month-to-month inflation (m-to-m) to year-to-year inflation (y-on-y). The High Level Meeting was held at Graha Bina Praja, (4/07/2021).

In his remarks, he said that based on the direction of the government of the Republic of Indonesia regarding inflation control, of course the main focus is how handling inflation in South Sumatra has an impact on society, where the inflation rate in South Sumatra is below the National Inflation rate, which is 2.48% so that by decreasing the inflation rate, it can reduce poverty in South Sumatra.

“Our meeting today certainly goes further that we are not only controlling inflation but we are together formulating strategies so that they can be implemented in the Regency / City to truly control inflation, the main commodity contributing to short-term plant inflation, we have to do it day to day because if we wait, it will have a greater impact,” he said.

He continued that there is an anomaly related to the contributor to rice price inflation in South Sumatra, even though South Sumatra is the 5th largest contributor to the national food barn in Indonesia, which based on market law has a major impact on supply and demand, but South Sumatra as a producer is still affected by rice commodity inflation

“There is something that doesn’t connect, if the production is large and then the price in the market increases, it means there is a disruption, it means we have a problem, how do we identify this after the harvest, our production should be rice and then the rice is stored as stock so that the price can be stable and there is no inflation here,” he explained

In ending his speech, he said that of the five (5) important points of the direction of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo, South Sumatra has implemented it but needs to strengthen the synergy between the Central and Regional governments between institutions so that it is not just routine but really becomes a problem solver in identifying a problem.

Meanwhile, the Daily Chair of TPID South Sumatra Edward Chandra, SH., MH reported that several activities had been carried out by the TPID Team, where the High Level meeting this time was attended by all regional heads throughout South Sumatra accompanied by several heads of OPDs, and attended directly by the resource person presented from the central government, namely the Deputy for Macroeconomic Coordination and Finance of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Ferry Irawan, S.E., M.S.E.

“Of course we hope to be able to provide enlightenment and provide knowledge to all of us and convey policy information from the center that can synergize and encourage the South Sumatra Provincial Government and Regency / City in efforts to control inflation,” he hoped

Also present were the Head of BPS South Sumatra Moh. Wahyu Yulianto, S.Si., S.ST., M.Si and the Regents / Mayors throughout South Sumatra. (ojn / ril)
