PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – The commitment to togetherness of the youths that was pledged in the youth oath in 1928, is proof that with unity, the ideals of the nation can be realized.
That was conveyed by Deputy Governor H Mawardi Yahya in his mandate when he became the 92nd Youth Pledge Day (HSP) Ceremony Inspector at West Plaza, Gelora Sriwijaya Stadium, Jakabaring Palembang, Wednesday (28/10).
That spirit, said Mawardi, must be a trigger for young people in South Sumatra to be involved in regional development. In fact, he also emphasized that young people in South Sumatra are also required to be able to adapt to the dynamics of change and the current developments that are so fast.
“The number of young people who currently occupy the highest positions must be addressed wisely so that youth, especially in South Sumatra, can compete with the outside world by making guidelines and encouraging youth priority programs,” he said.
Furthermore, he conveyed, youths are expected to be more creative, independent and highly competitive.
“The priority program will raise the spirit of the youth, one of which is the spirit of entrepreneurship in the form of digital businesses that lead to the creation of new jobs initiated by the youth themselves,” he said.
This includes being involved in handling the Covid-19 pandemic which is currently still happening. Youths are asked to be a booster for community optimism in facing Covid-19.
“Youth action to care in the Covid-19 era must be carried out. Convey positive narratives so that people are optimistic,” he said.
Because of that, he continued, the South Sumatra Provincial Government itself is actively holding youth activities to develop creativity and innovation in various fields. This is also done so that young people can compete in the midst of the times.
“This youth is the hope of the nation and the country. The South Sumatra youth must be more advanced and developed. We hope that in the future there will be many young leaders in South Sumatra who are global and become job creators,” he explained.
The Youth Pledge activity in South Sumatra began with a ceremony chaired by Deputy Governor H. Mawardi Yahya and continued with the awarding of awards to those who contributed to the development of youth in South Sumatra.
In addition, awards were also given to winners of competitions that were previously held digitally. Like a band festival competition and creative videos to win the South Sumatra Governor trophy.
It did not stop there, on the Youth Pledge Day, the South Sumatra Provincial Government also handed over operational vehicle assistance for the South Sumatra Scout family. (jekk/ril)
