Parliament: The Government Must Pay Attention to Disaster Victims in Various Regions

Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – Deputy Chairman of the Indonesian Parliament (DPR RI) M. Azis Syamsuddin asked the government through the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Ministry of Social Affairs, TNI and Polri to pay attention to all areas in Indonesia that were hit by disasters as a result of extreme weather.

Azis reminded us not to focus only on one area, while other areas are not covered. Some of the disasters that have occurred in various regions in Indonesia include the earthquake in Majene, West Sulawesi, landslides in Sumedang, West Java, floods in South Kalimantan, and others.

“Do not let the government focus on just one area in Majene, but other areas that experience calamities due to extreme weather and need assistance are not covered, such as in Sumedang, West Java, South Kalimantan, and other areas,” said Azis.

The Golkar Party politician said there were still many aspirations of the people who complained about not getting help. In fact, people have to ask for basic food needs.

He explained that as happened in the flood disaster in Banjar and Tanah Laut Regencies, South Kalimantan.

“Providing assistance must be evenly distributed from upstream to downstream,” said Azis.

The Head of the DPR RI, the Coordinator for Political and Security Affairs (Korpolkam), reminded that residents who were victims of the disaster needed various assistance from the government.

This is because the economy in the affected areas has become paralyzed. “They need food, clothing and medicine for their daily needs because the economy is paralyzed. Do not let the officers not provide assistance due to limited equipment and access constraints, “said Azis. (rma / bbs)
