HD asks BSI to educate the public about Islamic economics in South Sumatra

Palembang, The Indonesia Post – The Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru received the leadership of PT Bank Syariah Indonesia, Tbk (BSI) Regional Office II Palembang in the context of a gathering in the living room of the Governor of South Sumatra, Wednesday (17/1/2021).

On that occasion, HD welcomed the presence of BSI in South Sumatra. According to him, 90 percent of the approximately 85 thousand inhabitants of South Sumatra are Muslim, so this is a strategic market for the development of Islamic organizational problems.

HD requested that every bank in South Sumatra, including BSI, take a role in educating the public about sharia economic issues, capital and savings and loans for business actors. It is necessary to do socialization to the public, especially for Islamic bank users.

“Not all of our people know. Moreover, the problem of loans and capital problems that have not spread widely to farmers. Not to mention about the syar’i economy, what kind of formulation. So education is needed,” he said.

In addition, HD hopes that BSI will also work on all aspects of society in South Sumatra regardless of their religion, and not kill Islamic banks in the regions.

The South Sumatra Provincial Government is ready to collaborate with BSI to develop various sharia business opportunities in South Sumatra.

“For business actors, especially Muslim ones, this is a new hope. I know that this bank is new, of course at the beginning it will carry out internal improvements, including asset separation and so on. That is the challenge, because all of course requires a process that is not easy in separating movable assets and no, “said HD.

Meanwhile, RCEO of Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) Regional III, Dedi Suyadi, said that the Government has inaugurated Bank Syariah Indonesia, which is a merger of three state-owned sharia banks. The three banks are Bank Syariah Mandiri, BRI Syariah, and BNI Syariah on January 21, 2021.

“This merger makes our assets in developing the sharia economy and becomes an alternative for the community. Palembang itself is a strategic place with Regional Offices in 11 strategic areas, followed by services in branches,” he said.

For that, Dedi hopes that the presence of BSI in South Sumatra can be supported along with various programs in the future.
