The President also asked the public to reduce unnecessary activities.
“I ask the public to remain calm, be disciplined in maintaining health protocols, and reduce unnecessary activities,” President Jokowi said as quoted from the upload of the official Instagram account @jokowi in Jakarta, Sunday.
The President said that the COVID-19 pandemic in Indonesia, as predicted, was climbing with the daily positive case number approaching the peak of cases as in July 2021. The Omicron variant of the Corona Virus, the President said, had a high transmission rate, but a lower fatality rate than the Delta variant.
The President reminded people who have not been vaccinated to get the vaccine immediately.
“For those who have been fully vaccinated and it is time to inject booster vaccines, booster vaccines should be given immediately,” said the President.
On Saturday (12/2), the number of positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia increased by 55,209 cases, so that accumulated since March 2020 to date, the total number of confirmed positive cases in Indonesia has reached 4.7 million cases, according to data from the COVID-19 Task Force. 19.
