Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) enjoys the pulse of community life at night in Yogyakarta, including the singing of Malioboro street music artists.
According to a statement from the Press Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat received in Jakarta on Sunday, President Jokowi took a walk in the Malioboro area, Special Region of Yogyakarta with minimal escort from the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) on Saturday (15/10) night.
Jokowi greeted tourists and the public in the leading tourism area.
Through his official Instagram account @jokowi, the President also wrote that he met residents, tourists, hawkers, and many people in Malioboro.
“In Malioboro, I met residents, tourists, hawkers, and didn’t forget to hear singing from street music artists,” said the President.
The public seemed enthusiastic when they saw the President in the Malioboro area. In fact, not a few people have asked for a photo with President Jokowi.
As seen from the video uploaded on the Presidential Secretariat’s Youtube, one of the visitors to Malioboro, Siti said she was happy because she was able to meet President Jokowi in person.
“(President Jokowi) is kind, authoritative, firm,” said Siti, who admitted that it was the first time she met Jokowi.
Not only greeting, the Head of State who wore a long-sleeved white shirt also handed over assistance to hawkers and street vendors in the Malioboro area. After that, the President also witnessed the performance of street artists in the Malioboro area.
“I’m moved here, happy to see Pak Jokowi. I wish you good health, lots of sustenance, long life, Mr. President,” said Dian, one of the beverage vendors in Malioboro who received assistance from the President.
After handing over the aid and greeting the people in Malioboro, the Head of State returned to the Yogyakarta Presidential Palace for the night and continued activities on Sunday 16/10). (mhn/bbs)
