Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Jokowi held the Eid al-Adha prayer 1443 Hijri at the Istiqlal Mosque on Sunday, July 10, 2022.
Eid al-Adha prayer begins at 07.00 WIB led by Imam Salim Ghazali. The sermon was delivered by the Chairman of the Central Indonesian Waqf Board, KH Mohammad Nuh, with the theme “The Spirit of Mutual Cooperation Strengthens the Joints of Diversity”.
Besides being attended by the public, the Eid prayer will also be attended by leaders of state institutions, a number of ministers of the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, ambassadors of friendly countries and government officials.
Along with President Jokowi, the TNI Commander General Andika Perkasa, Chairman of the Constitutional Court (MK) who is also President Jokowi’s brother-in-law, Anwar Usman, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahudin Uno, Deputy Chairman of the MPR Jazilul Fawaid, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, were also present. Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Youth and Sports Zainuddin Amali, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs Teten Masduki, Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno, and other officials.
Before the Eid al-Adha prayers are held, takbir and tahlil continue to be chanted.
This year’s Eid al-Adha prayer at the Istiqlal Mosque is the first post-COVID-19 pandemic.
President Jokowi wearing a gray suit, white shirt, red and black sarong and a black skullcap took his place in the front row next to the Grand Imam of the Istiqlal Mosque Nasaruddin Umar and Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto.
This year, the Istiqlal Mosque will allow 150,000 people to perform Eid prayers. Congregants pray up to the 4th floor of the Istiqlal Mosque.
At this year’s Eid al-Adha, President Jokowi also handed over a sacrificial animal at the Istiqlal Mosque in the form of a Simental cow weighing 1 ton.
Not only at the Istiqlal Mosque, President Jokowi also handed over community assistance in the form of sacrificial animals in 34 provinces in Indonesia.
The slaughter of sacrificial animals at the Istiqlal Mosque will be carried out on Monday (11/7) morning.
The acquisition of sacrificial animals at the Istiqlal Mosque this year is 32 cows and 16 goats. (mhn/bbs)
