Jakarta, The Indonesia Post – President Joko Widodo and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma’ruf Amin and wife Wury Ma’ruf Amin attended the 78 Years of Independence National Remembrance and Prayer at the Merdeka Palace Courtyard, Jakarta, Tuesday.
The national remembrance and prayer was held by the Palace as the opening of the Month of Independence commemorating the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
The President appeared to be attending wearing a white Muslim shirt combined with a gray suit and a green sarong and a cap, while the Vice President wore an all-white Muslim dress with a black cap.
The president and vice president were seen sitting next to each other. Likewise, the First Lady and the Vice President’s wife were seen sitting side by side in the women’s shaf.
Also attending the event were a number of ministers and deputy ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet, religious leaders, community leaders, and various other elements.
The event began with singing the Indonesia Raya Anthem, reciting the holy verses of the Koran and reports from the Chairperson of the Organizers of National Remembrance and Prayer. (mhn/bbs)
