//Herman Deru Targets SerU Sriwijaya 2020 to Motivate South Sumatra MSMEs
PALEMBANG, The Indonesia Post – Accompanied by the Chairman of the Regional National Craft Council (Dekranasda) of South Sumatra, Hj Feby Deru, the Governor of South Sumatra H. Herman Deru attended the opening of Semarak UMKM (SerU) Sriwijaya 2020 at the Regional Representative Office of Bank Indonesia (BI) South Sumatra, on Thursday (19/11 / 20) morning.
Through this activity HD hopes that UMKM in South Sumatra will be more motivated to be more creative and innovative so that they can compete in the midst of economic globalization and even become a new economic power in South Sumatra.
“Thank you to BI who has been so concerned with the South Sumatra UMKM. This is important to encourage MSMEs, because their enthusiasm is the main capital for us to survive. This is also what inspires me to provide Kurda stimulants and capacity building. I hope BI continues. Seriously optimizing and extending these entrepreneurs and UMKM in South Sumatra, “he said after opening Semarak UMKM (SerU) Sriwijaya 2020 Virtual at KPW BI Sumsel.
Furthermore, HD said that currently all are still facing tests in the middle of the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) Pandemic, which is a virus that has a very fast spread rate, and in this situation it affects all levels of society, including the economic sector.
The UMKM sector, which has been the backbone of the National Economy, has been the most affected sector, where MSME players are currently experiencing a significant decline in sales turnover, difficulty in obtaining raw materials and hampering distribution. Therefore, it is during the transition period to the New Normal or New Normal that the South Sumatra Government continues its efforts to encourage MSME players and the people of South Sumatra to remain productive in order to be able to push the South Sumatra Economic Wheel.
“I urge MSMEs and other business players in South Sumatra to enter into leading economic sectors such as the fisheries, tourism, processing industry and food commodities to adapt to using digital technology and online transactions in developing businesses,” he hoped.
Digitalization of UMKM, HD said, is absolutely necessary as a means of marketing for MSME products, because the MSMEs that exist and are able to maintain their sales turnover are MSMEs that are connected to the digital ecosystem, namely MSMEs that are connected to the marketplace platform.
Meanwhile, the Head of Regional Representative Office for BI South Sumatra, Harri Widodo said, currently economic development in South Sumatra continues to show improvement. This can be seen from the improvement in economic growth from the previous contraction of -1.56 percent in the second quarter to -1.4 percent in the third quarter.
“This implies optimism that economic growth will continue to improve in the next period because this is in line with improving economic indicators globally, nationally and regionally,” he explained.
According to Harri, this economic improvement is expected to be able to help business actors including MSMEs that are affected by decreased turnover, constrained by raw materials and capital. Because like statistical data, it shows that MSMEs are one of the drivers of the economy in South Sumatra with an extraordinary absorption of their workforce.
“Therefore, to encourage the revival of MSMEs during the pandemic, KPW BI implements several policies. Development carried out by BI includes aspects of production, marketing, including facilitating MSMEs to go export and go digital,” he explained.
In fact, as a form of real effort to develop MSMEs into new economic strengths, BI synergizes with the Regional Government and collaborates with the South Sumatra Regional Secretariat to hold the Sriwijaya SerU 2020 from 19-25 November virtually. Some of the activities held were in the form of a minor web that discussed.
In addition to the opening of Semarak UMKM (SerU) Sriwijaya 2020, on that occasion there was also a signing of a Business Matching between Sumsel MSMEs and PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Sumsel – Bangka Belitung.
The activity was also seen to be attended, Director of BI Regional Department Wuryanto Head of BI Representative Office for North Sumatra Wiwik Sisto Widayat, Head of OJK Regional VII Untung Nugroho, President Director of BSB Ahmad Syamsudin, Chairman of MUI South Sumatra Prof. DR K.H. Aflatun Muchtar. (mhn/ril)
