PALEMBANG, TheIndonesiaPost – The South Sumatra Provincial Government is focusing on various ways to deal with Covid-19 in South Sumatra. Especially at this time, the spread of the epidemic is increasingly massive from the community to other communities.
South Sumatra Governor H. Herman Deru also instructed each hospital to add an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as a place to treat Covid-19 patients whose health condition has dropped dramatically.
“I have instructed each hospital to add ICU space to care for these patients. No exception, both hospitals in Palembang and hospitals in districts/cities, I ask to add ICU, “HD said reported by the Governor’s team.
According to HD, the Covid-19 outbreak cannot be predicted until when it occurs, so every step taken must always be evaluated based on the development of Covid-19.
“We are required to always be ready. We cannot predict how long Covid-19 will end. Therefore, we must be prepared, including adding to the ICU in this hospital to accommodate if patients whose condition is indeed declining, “he explained.
He explained the addition of ICU space could use or divert other rooms that could still be used.
“It can divert another room into an ICU room for example or change the emergency department. What is clear is the ICU room in this hospital must be added, “he said.
That, he continued, in order to encourage the acceleration of handling of Covid-19. Also included for Personal Protective Equipment (APD). HD invited Regencies / Cities to propose APD procurement to the South Sumatra Provincial Government.
“If later there is a lack of equipment, you can ask the Provincial Government. For APD as well, hospitals to Puskesmas please submit. We maximize the handling of Covid-19, “he concluded. (Hms / asm)
