SURVEY: People Believe in Jokowi’s Way of Handling Corona

Jakarta, TheIndonesiaPost – The survey results show satisfaction with the performance of Joko Widodo (Jokowi) – Ma’ruf Amin in dealing with the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Quoted from CNNIndonesia.com, the results of the last survey of Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) and the National Media Survey (Median) stated, the level of public satisfaction with the performance of the central government reached more than 50 percent.

Median who conducted the survey on April 6-13 2020 said 52.4 percent of residents were satisfied with the intervention of the central government in tackling the spread of the coronavirus. This survey was conducted on a sample of 800 respondents’ telephone numbers with a margin of error of approximately 3.46 percent at a 95 percent confidence level.

The top three reasons the public is satisfied with this include the central government has done the best (19.4) percent; Quick Response (10.7) percent; and the Central Government has a good performance in handling co-19 (8.7) percent.

Meanwhile, there was 40.1 percent of the public who were dissatisfied with the handling of the central government on co-19. The top three reasons are Slow Handling (18) percent; There was no anticipation and underestimation (16.7) percent; and Poor Coordination (15.3) percent.

While in the release of the SMRC survey, Friday (17/4), the majority of residents (52) percent thought the central government was quick to deal with the coronavirus outbreak, while 41 percent considered it slow. The survey was conducted on 9-12 April 2020 of 1,200 respondents who were interviewed by telephone and randomly selected, with a margin of error of 2.9 percent.

Both surveys were carried out after more than six weeks of the first case being announced on March 2, 2020.

Disclosure of the inaugural case seemed to answer the doubts of the world who first thought that the virus originating from Wuhan, China, had come to Indonesia. Also, the unfolding of the case seemed to flirt with the mistrust of officials who had previously denied the various opinions of their jokes.

The first case was two residents of Depok, West Java, who contracted from a Japanese citizen at the Dance Club on February 14, 2020.

After that new corona data continues to emerge. (ojan/bbs)
